Ohagi ( おはぎ ) of Imanishiken ( 今西軒 ) _2

The best Ohagi from Kyoto

There are a lot of Japanese confectioneries, who are creating and selling Ohagi in Japan. Imanishiken is one of the best Ohagi producers in all of Japan, I believe.

Familiar with longer history

Imanishiken has quite long history. The shop is in Shimogyo ward located near Gojo subway station along Karasuma Street. Established in 1897. Quite familiar with Kyoto’s local people over a century. Since this shop is so well-known by both local people and travelers, in my experience, it is almost no chance to get Ohagi, if you reach the shop after 11:00a.m. even weekday.

The best combination of red soybean with mochi rice

The steamed red soy bean paste by Imanishiken is not too sweet. So we can enjoy more flavor and taste of nice red beans. Then the quality and softness ( & hardness) of mochi rice are also very good. The nice balance of all natural ingredients and materials let me come back to the the shop to enjoy the sensitive and elegant Japan’s long historical patisserie.
