Overhaul
Asked full maintenance to use my Leica M3 much and much longer time.
Waited 3 months
I purchased my Leica M3 at GINZA KATSUMIDO in 2011 , which has been the official sole agent of Leitz in Japan after World War II and until Leica estimated their own managed store in Tokyo. In Sept 5th 2024, I brought my Leica M3 into the store after the pretty heavy usage and asked the overhaul repairment. Has used for more than 12 years after purchasing. Then originally all parts of my Leica M3 were made in 1966. So even I predicted that at least I must spend over 100,000 JPY. Because some parts must be replaced.
Unexpected calling
In this week, I received the message from KATZUMIDO that all maintenance processing was over. Then surprisingly the cost was only 44,000 JPY. This is the evidence that Leica M3 is so durable.
New Leitz item for me
During the overhauling processing, I could get new item of Leitz. It’s easel mask. Fortunately the previous owner kept good condition. Almost dead stock quality. Until now, I has used only the easel made by LPL. Since it is produced by Leitz, it must be useful for auto focus with Focomat.
Restart analogue photo shooting with Wet process
In next Friday, I will go to Tokyo from Kyoto to pick my Leica M3 up. Anyway, my Focomat and Valoy are waiting that my Leica M3 come back to home. Looking forward to enjoying again the shooting with 135 film and printing with fiber based printing paper.
