My nickname here is MINOCAME. I’ve continued Japanese writing blog site since 2007 ( https://minocame.com ). In 2015 I moved from Funabashi, Chiba, Japan. I enjoy the daily life here in Kyoto very much. Another nice thing is that I get more opportunities to visit wonderful sightseeing spots in West Side of Japan from Kyoto.

in Kyoto

Main contents of this site is what I watch and what I do in Kyoto. For example, show my favorite spots nice for sightseeing, cafe, tea, restaurant, JP sweets, …. Another interest in Kyoto is that there are so many events and festivals. Hope I can report such unique aspect of Kyoto.

from Kyoto

Will show many of destinations from Kyoto. For example;

Kanazawa

My born place. Charm of Japan along Japan sea. From Kyoto station to Kanazawa station, it takes 2:00 to 2:15 hrs. The aspect might be similar with Kyoto for foreign travelers. But the historical background is different. Will show in the article related into this traditional city.

Shiga

Shiga prefecture is adjacent to Kyoto prefecture. Shiga has the largest lake, Biwa lake, with nice nature. From my home by car, I can reach Biwa lake side in Otsu city within 30mins. There are historical sightseeing spots too. Nagahama is one of my best places in Shiga.

JP Sweets with Coffee / Tea

My wife and I like Japanese sweets and porcelain very much. So recently we enjoy nice JP sweets put on fine designing Japan’s porcelain small dishes.

Japan has three great confectionery regions;

Kyoto

The dango shop, Ichiwa, was found in the year 1000. Since that time, in the imperial city created quite much varieties of Japanese sweets. Kyoto’s refined culture includes exquisite tea ceremony sweets and seasonal delicacies like the famous yatsuhashi. My wife and I are very lucky to enjoy such nice long historical JP sweets, just one by one

Kanazawa

In Kanazawa city, after Wolrd War II, my grandfather found the company to create fine paper box, which convey and keep traditional Japanese sweets. Therefore, whenever I go to Kanazawa to meet Grampa & Gramma, I enjoyed the nice long historical delicious sweets. Especially for my Grampa, Moriyachi was the most important customer. although his company was already closed. My wife kindly buy some of my missing sweets from Kanazawa. During Era Edo ( 1603 BC – 1868), The Maeda clan, rulers of the Kaga domain (currently know as Ishikawa pre and Toyama Pre), supported tea culture and, consequently, the development of confectionery.

Yes, I still really miss them. Nice thing is that we can find out the well-known Japanese sweets made in Kanazawa at Kyoto’s department store, Takashimaya.

Matsue

Matsue’s historical connection to tea culture and its association with the renowned tea master Sen no Rikyu contributed to its status. Unfortunately my wife and I don’t try yet the sweets in Matsue. Nice thing is Matsue area has famous pottery kiln. So it is our dream to visit this region to find out both nice dishes and JP sweets.

New exploration

Hope I found new things and find out new feature on what I already see in Kyoto and other fascinating places in West Japan. It is nice if I can show such nice findings in Kyoto and from Kyoto.
